Dismembered bodies and narcobanners of CJNG found in Veracruz
The Attorney General’s Office of Veracruz has initiated a thorough investigation following the disturbing discovery of several bodies abandoned on the Mexico-Tuxpan highway. The corpses were found in coolers and bags, arranged in the bed of a white flatbed truck, as well as in a car and on the pavement.
Upon receiving the alert, agents from the General Directorate of Forensic Services of Veracruz moved to the location of the gruesome discovery to conduct field and laboratory forensic tests. The goal is to determine the number of victims and their identities in order to clarify this concerning incident.
At the scene, security forces secured the area and removed banners with messages allegedly from a criminal organization, notably from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), which were also found at the site.
The vehicles with human remains were located near the access bridge to the northern port of Veracruz at the junction with the Poza Rica-Tihuatlán highway. One of the banners was hung on a pedestrian bridge, while the other remained attached to the car and the truck.
The state prosecutor’s office, in a brief statement issued around 9:00 PM on Sunday, reported on the event without providing specific details about the number of bodies. Although there are unofficial reports of more than a dozen victims, this figure has not been confirmed. Additionally, the gender of the murdered individuals is unknown.
Meanwhile, the Government Secretariat of Veracruz issued a brief statement indicating that the incident could be related to a settling of scores.
They are investigating a threatening message directed at guatemalans
A research is underway regarding a threatening message directed at Guatemalan citizens, and Mexican authorities are working diligently to identify the victims and clarify the details of this disturbing incident. The international community and human rights advocacy organizations are closely monitoring this case, emphasizing the urgency of addressing violence and threats against migrants in the region, as reported by media outlets in the neighboring country.
According to MILENIO reports, in southern Mexico, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel controls an 80-kilometer stretch of road that connects Guatemala to the city of Comitán, Chiapas. This route cannot be freely traversed due to the cartel’s presence, significantly affecting trade in the area.
A MILENIO report confirms that criminals have blocked the road using a trailer and established a checkpoint on the route connecting to La Mesilla in Huehuetenango. Additionally, they intermittently close the Pan-American Highway, specifically on the stretch towards Frontera Comalapa, as well as at other points in the region.
